New patient consultation
All new patients will require a new patient consultation. This is designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of your foot and ankle health, allowing us to understand your concerns and develop a personalised treatment plan. Whether you’re dealing with pain, discomfort, or simply looking to maintain optimal foot health, we are here to help you every step of the way.
What to expect during your new patient consultation
Your first visit with us is an opportunity to get to know you and understand your specific needs. The new patient consultation begins with a detailed discussion of your medical history, including any current symptoms, past treatments, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your foot health. This conversation helps us gain a holistic understanding of your condition and ensures we understand your overall health.
Following this, our podiatrist will perform a thorough assessment of your vascular and neurological health. This examination includes checking the blood flow to your feet and assessing nerve function to ensure there are no underlying issues that could affect treatment outcomes.
During the appointment, we provide expert care for a variety of skin and nail issues, such as callus removal and general nail care. We aim to address your concerns as promptly as possible, and in most cases, treatments can be provided during the same visit. However, please note that nail surgery for ingrown toenails will not be performed during this initial consultation. This procedure requires a follow-up appointment to ensure that we have the necessary time and resources to perform it safely.
To ensure an accurate examination, we ask that your nails are free of polish or gel products. This allows us to conduct a full and clear assessment of your nail health. If your nails are not clear of these products, we may need to reschedule part of your assessment.
Upon completion of your first appointment, we will review your progress and continue your care in a shorter follow up appointment.

FAQs
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring any relevant medical records, a list of current medications, and any previous treatments you have had for your foot or nail issues. This information helps us provide the most accurate care.
How long will the consultation take?
The new patient consultation typically lasts 45 minutes, allowing us to conduct a thorough assessment and discuss potential treatment options. After your first consultation we will continue with a follow up appointment which will last 30 minutes.
Will I receive treatment during my first visit?
Yes, in most cases, treatment for skin and nail concerns can be provided during your initial visit. However, more complex procedures, such as nail surgery, will require a follow-up appointment.
Why can’t nail surgery be performed during the first visit?
Nail surgery is a specialised procedure that requires additional time and preparation. We schedule these procedures separately to ensure that you receive the best care in a safe and controlled environment.
What happens if my nails have polish or gel on them?
For an accurate assessment, your nails need to be free of polish or gel products. If your nails aren’t clear, we may not be able to perform a full assessment and may need to reschedule certain parts of your consultation.
Is the new patient consultation only for skin and nail concerns?
While this consultation focuses on skin and nail issues, we can also address other foot health concerns during your visit. If you have multiple concerns, please inform us when booking your appointment so we can allocate sufficient time.
